TMG targets 35–40 hotels as Egypt hospitality strategy expands

Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG) plans to expand its hotel portfolio from about 20 properties today to between 35 and 40 over the next decade, according to chief executive and managing director Hisham Talaat Moustafa in an interview with Al Arabiya Business, reported by Daily News Egypt on July 12.

The strategy is designed to diversify revenue and deepen the links between TMG’s real-estate, hospitality, entertainment, education, transport and healthcare businesses. Moustafa said the group relies on market studies, financial analysis and risk assessment before approving investments, and that project progress is tracked against financial projections and execution plans.

TMG is also preparing The Spine, an upcoming development that the CEO described as a technology-led response to changing customer expectations. He said the company is preparing a major entertainment project with Gulf investors, with further details to be announced later. TMG expects the population living across its developments to approach three million within 12 years, increasing demand for leisure and community services.

The hotel plan would strengthen TMG’s role as both a property developer and a tourism operator. Moustafa identified Egypt and Saudi Arabia as attractive long-term markets but warned that weak market analysis and underestimating inflation can create material risks.

For buyers, more hotels and entertainment venues could improve the year-round offer in integrated communities, but the interview did not provide a project list, investment value, launch dates or guaranteed returns. The 35–40-property figure is a corporate target, not a delivery commitment. Investors should wait for formal project announcements and approvals before treating the plan as available inventory.
