Gulf Egypt plans EGP20bn mixed-use tourism destination in Sharm El Sheikh

Gulf Egypt for Hotels and Tourism, a subsidiary of United Real Estate Company, has announced plans for a mixed-use tourism and hospitality destination in Sharm El Sheikh with planned investments exceeding EGP 20bn. Daily News Egypt reported the announcement on July 12 as the company marked five decades of operating in Egypt.

The proposed development is planned on about 354,458 square metres with roughly 750 metres of beachfront. It is near Sharm El Sheikh International Airport and the city’s conference and events district. Gulf Egypt said the destination will combine hospitality, residential, leisure, wellness and entertainment uses under one master plan.

The company signed a cooperation protocol with Al Montazah Tourism & Investment Company after acquiring the project land and completing planning and evaluation studies. It also appointed HVS and JLL to provide market research, feasibility work and support for the master plan and development strategy.

According to the announcement, the scheme is expected to include a luxury hotel, two branded residential communities and an internationally branded beach club, alongside retail, leisure and wellness facilities. The beach club is intended to operate throughout the year, although no opening date, operator, unit schedule or sales terms were published.

Gulf Egypt said it owns and operates hospitality assets including Hilton Cairo Heliopolis and Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis. For investors, the plan points to continued coastal hospitality development around Sharm El Sheikh. For buyers, it remains a planned project: the investment figure is a company estimate, and delivery, prices and returns are not guaranteed.
